This Dynamic Duo, husband and wife team takes on the Direction of the Katy Hustle Grassroots and AAU Program for boys and girls. Ray and Angela have a wealth of knowledge and experience to take on this ambitious challenge. They will be hiring and training coaches. They will be putting in our curriculum, our culture, as well as teaching players what it means to be a collegiate athlete but most importantly to become the best version of themselves.

The two have had successful high school, collegiate, and professional careers, but they also continue to make a tremendous impact on the youth and professional basketball levels. Angela Davidson (now Weathers) has 15 years of coaching experience as well as non- profit management combined from grassroots basketball to professional basketball on both gender sides of the game. After coaching 100% of female athletes to collegiate scholarships, several McDonald All American nominees and candidates, Jordan Brand Classic MVPs and Adidas Jr. Phenom student athletes, Angela was once deemed by Maverick’s owner Mark Cuban as “DFWs top female trainers and among the nation’s best,” upon taking on Director of Player Development for Cuban’s Dallas Heroes Basketball Academy. Angela Weathers attributes a lot of what she can offer to Katy Hustle stems from being one of Louisiana’s most decorated players in her era. Davidson became an ESPN 100/WBCA player and went on to play at Ole Miss and transferred to finish her career at Northwestern State University. The Southland Legend is one of NSU’s top 10 all-time leading scorers and was recorded as the 3rd Player in NSU’s history to receive Player of the Year Honors with a two time Nomination for the accolade that placed her as a SENIOR STAR WATCH LIST award candidate among the nation’s top Division I athletes under the tutelage of Southland Hall of Famer Coach James Smith. With an accumulation of life and playing experiences as a World Champion in the Federal International Women’s Basketball Association (FIBA) and National Women’s Basketball League (NWBL)/former WNBA free agent, Weathers was inducted into the National Association of Professional Women and was Awarded the NAPW Executive Businesswoman of the Year later. Among these prestigious honors, her current relationships and platform brought her to the position as Director of Grassroots Girls’ Basketball Programs with Katy Hustle, which will bring student athletes and families of Katy Hustle a wealth of knowledge and most importantly opportunities that she too only once dreamed about as a young player.

Ray’s resume speaks for itself a former Jackson, Michigander. The “hometown hero” continues to live up to the expectations of where his roots began. Weathers’ name still rings a bell not only from his high school playing days on the grassroots circuit as a high school All American with Little Mapower, but also as a former Michigan State University Big X All Conference Spartan standout. That isn’t where the long list of accolades stops though for the humanitarian. There aren’t too many places in the world that Weathers has not stamped his passport to play with success after having “tasted a cup of coffee in the NBA” with the Detroit Pistons and Phoenix Suns. The thirteen-year Euro league Champion and ex CBA MVP All Star now prides himself on giving back to the community through sports with his. Having coached at the high school level winning District Championships to national prep circuit on major platforms with Gatorade live streaming with over 1 million viewers. The two are eager to impact this region of Texas where their heart lies. Ray looks forward to infusing all his experiences both on and off the playing court to make a tremendous impact as the new Director of Grassroots Boys’ Basketball Programs at Katy Hustle. When asked about the game plan for Katy Hustle team Weathers answered in unison, “We intend to do nothing short of what we have been fortunate enough to accomplish with the inspiration, effort, and determination that we have always given to the game, fans and families that we diligently serve and who also embrace us in order to build and expand Katy Hustle.”

Tony Luprete, Founder and Director of Katy Hustle Basketball Academy said he was “blessed beyond belief to have these two big time basketball players/coaches/trainers come on board with us. This is huge for our program!! They are the two of the smartest and most humble people you will ever meet. But most of all just two great people looking to give back. We look forward to helping players reach their full potential on and off the court.”
